Three Generation Family Photo Session

The Incledon's brought three generations of the family to Hawaii for the 2016 Christmas Holiday season - grandparents, kids and the grown up grandkids, 11 in all. With an ongoing week of clouds and rain, we headed for one of my favorite photo session locations, Waialae Beach Park, a gorgeous palm tree lined beach next to the Kahala Hotel & Resort, that is usually remarkably low on people.

Generational Memories - I knew that with 11 of us to photograph featuring 3 generations of family, I needed the right photographer. Not only one whose work was impeccable with the camera, but as important, a photographer who had the temperament to manage a group that size, be flexible to capture the sub group shots, and have a great eye for composition.

Fortunately, we found Bodhi. From the get go, he was helpful in providing location options, and flexible on shoot dates given that we wanted a sunny morning and the original date had a threatening forecast, he moved the shoot out two days for us, and we had a gorgeous sunny day in Wailea. He used his sense of humor to keep everyone loose during a fairly lengthy and engaged morning. Not only did we have a group shots, but we had three wardrobe changes with the group, a formal, a Hawaiian casual and the kids in their college tees. He was great about that and he was willing to take individual shots, couples including that of my recently engaged son and his fiancée. He is meticulous and detail oriented but the results are superb. A session with Bodhi during your vacation will be one of the best decisions you make. - John Incledon, Mendham, NJ

With large family groups you never know what you're gonna get...it can be a very chaotic affair, or it can be amazingly focused. Every family is different. The Incledon's made my job super easy peasy by being organized and focused and eager to try the next thing. As usual, I like to start off by shooting the whole family portrait first, followed by all the sub groupings, and then at last we get to play and do any fun thing we can think up.

The Incledon's had three outfit changes they wanted to incorporate, and that always eats up time, but with such a large group I was able to keep working with someone as the rest would change. They managed to get thru all the changes in remarkably quick order! It was mid shoot, before I learned that one of the grandkids was recently engaged to his girlfriend...it's easy to spot who the two love birds are in the photos! I also especially loved how playful grandpa and grandma were. I think we got some really sweet photos of them!

A big thank you to all of the Incledon Family for being so fun to play with and allowing me the opportunity to do my favorite job ever! PS. Check out their video slideshow below, set to toe-tapping music!
