I reached out to Lightness Photography in June to prepare for our July Hawaii trip. Brett responded within the day and scheduling was super easy. He made recommendations on optimal times to get the best lighting/sun. The Lightness Photography website was user friendly and very informational. Brett provided easy instructions on where to meet and perfect suggestions on locations for the type of mood/look we were going for in regards to our family photos. Family Sunset Portraits - Ko Olina

Brett is amazing in ALL areas! We booked him when Covid-19 was just approaching (Spring 2020) so we had the unintended opportunity of getting to know each other over several months as we scheduled and rescheduled our session based on closures and CDC guidelines. Brett was super understanding, flexible and patient through it all!

Brett is willing to fly to neighboring islands or shoot a session here on Oahu which was really convenient as well. We originally booked him for Maui but ended up doing our session on Oahu over Thanksgiving week and it was well worth the wait! He is so creative, so professional and easy to work with, we would highly recommend him! The hardest part is deciding which photos to enlarge up for our house which is the best compliment to him and his work. Sweet Engagement Session - Waialae Beach Park

"My fiancé and I had our engagement photos taken by Brett a couple weeks ago, and we are so happy with the way our pictures turned out! I contacted Brett via email a week before our vacation to Oahu and he responded immediately with his availability. He suggested meeting at 8:30 a.m., so then I asked if we could meet in the afternoon instead, since I'm not an early bird ;P He advised us that the best time to have our photos taken would be in the morning because it's cooler outside, not as many people out, and the sun won't be in our eyes. The photographer Brett was amazing and a delight to work with!! I was planning a vacation to Oahu with my family and decided to add a photo session for our first time. "I found Brett online when I was looking for a photographer who could capture our family on the beach, our first time to Hawaii!  As I narrowed down my search for a photographer, I really loved Brett's galleries online.  I loved the way he would capture a family with drops of water flying as children raced through the water or a wave crashing on a rock as a family stood in a perfect rosy glow from a beach sunset.  When I contacted photographers with our available dates, I was really impressed with Brett.  He responded in less than 24 hours, sent an email with pictures as examples of what he could do based on my inquiries and had specific location ideas.  I also loved that he would edit ALL the images in the package.  It really sealed the deal too when he was willing to do TWO locations and TWO dates to get the perfect shots for a very reasonable price.

I was so pleased to meet him and he was such a joy to work with.  My kids had a great time splashing around in the water and he captured gorgeous shots that are very natural and full of movement and life.  He had a really artistic eye, and his editing was so stunning (without looking fake).  You could tell Brett was having fun with our family, it was fantastic.

Finally, he was professional from first contact to the actual shoot and afterwards.  He was on time (even early!) both days and he immediately had photos up and edited on the gallery to choose from.  My only complaint... there were too many wonderful shots to choose from! I would absolutely recommend him and would use him again in a heartbeat!" - Mandy B.

3 Generation Family Session - Kahala Hotel Resort

"I knew that with 11 of us to photograph featuring 3 generations of family, I needed the right photographer. Not only one whose work was impeccable with the camera, but as important, a photographer who had the temperament to manage a group that size, be flexible to capture the sub group shots, and have a great eye for composition.  Fortunately, we found Brett. From the get go, he was helpful in providing location options, and flexible on shoot dates given that we wanted a sunny morning and the original date had a threatening forecast, he moved the shoot out two days for us, and we had a gorgeous sunny day in Waialae. "We hired Brett to take our family photos to celebrate our parent's 50th wedding anniversary. Our decision was influenced by a few factors:
- Unlike some other photographers, he replied to our questions fairly quickly and we were able to book a photo session. Some photographers didn't even reply to our e-mails.
- He has a great gallery on his website, while other photographers either don't have as many or the images aren't very big. We saw an island in one of the galleries and we asked if we could have our photo session there also... and he said it was a perfect setting for sunset photos.
