Good North Shore photo locations are all over the place, you almost can't go wrong anywhere you choose. My favorite, however, is Kawela Bay Park located near Turtle Bay Resort. I like this location because its a hidden gem that few people know about so there's never a crowd and it's got an endless amount of great spots for portraits - I'm always finding new ones.
Kawela Bay Beach Park is a huge forested park with two beautiful small circular bays with beaches, rocky shores, fantastic sunset views and lots of room to get lost. The park has many great features for portraits such as large banyan trees, forested trails, good wave action, an old WWII pill box and deep leafy glades.
Even when clients are staying at the gorgeous nearby Turtle Bay Resort, I recommend they do their session at Kawela Bay Beach Park instead as there are far more options and fewer people there.
Kawela Bay Beach Park is great for morning, mid-day and sunset sessions.
Kawela Bay Beach Park is a 75 to 90 minute drive from Waikiki to the North Shore. Leave early and explore some of the North Shore beaches along the way. And don't forget to check out historic, downtown Haleiwa.
